Foxtoberfest 2022 The Zephyr's Debut Story

Foxtoberfest 2022 The Zephyr's Debut Story

Last year I took my 78 Ford Futura to Foxtoberfest 2021 (Foxbody only show) after just returning from a men's event called Quest. I remember telling God If He let me win, I would give him all the credit when they call me up to the stage to say something and receive my trophy. When the nicest Fairmont wagon with a $50k engine received a choice award I knew I was in the game. I prayed and told God it's all his anyway, I'm happy to just be there with my dad enjoying the beautiful weather and great cars. We went up there as they called out the winners and they called me, "The light blue Ford Futura owner please come forward" I was ecstatic. I won a choice award. I went up and just as I promised I grabbed the mic and said all the credit goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thank you Jesus. Fast forward to this past October 2022 I signed up to staff the same event and we have been building my dad's 78 Mercury Zephyr Z7 for the past 4 years. I asked God how many tickets I should buy this year's Foxtoberfest, He said clearly buy 3. Charles (85 Mustang GT convertible), Me (78 Ford Futura) and my dad's car will debut there and gave me a vision of our cars, apparel, stickers and glove box Bibles to hand out there at the show. Mind you at this time the engine was still at Automotive Specialist (engine builder), I needed t-shirts, stickers, bibles and the car still had a long way to go. So, we trusted in God and me and The Refuge Church men began to speak life into this impossible situation. Closing on October I prepared for Quest and thrashed with my dad on getting his car ready for the engine and drivetrain etc. Plus, printing T-shirts, stickers and Bibles with our logo. The men's event lasts a week and is the week before the car show. The week before I was scheduled to leave, we dynoed the motor, it made 1300hp and 1100lb torque. Then we installed it and the drive train in the following days. We thrashed for a solid week before I left for GA and dad had one week left to finish all that was left plus test drive it and detail it. Fast forward to when I came home the day before Foxtoberfest 2022 we stayed up all night cleaning and detailing our cars and during our discussions my dad told me he was really stretched this past week; he found himself telling God he could not do it without Him and needing a miracle. My dad experienced God the Father in a whole new way at the least to say. The next morning, we made the show and our friends started showing up in groves to see the highly anticipated build they have been hearing about for four years. We made our rounds passing out bibles and sharing the gospel and looking at some cool cars. At the end of the show, we went down to hear the winners. My good friend Charles won (most in need of a convertible top), he needed it. About that time, they Said " The winner of Best non-mustang Foxbody is the 78 Mercury Zephyr, please come forward". We were all hi fiving, laughing and celebrating. God did just what he said he would do, He's a good Father, He's concerned with what we're concerned with. But most of all He's concerned with every one of our hearts. So, I say all that to say If you don't have a relationship with your Heavenly Father, you are invited. Psalm 145:18 "The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth"

Until next time, Matthew Faggart
